





Brief for Competition
The Retal International Competition for Mosques launched to design mosques as per Retal’s community and specialized Vision as its effort to build unique Mosques in the company projects located in Eastern Province specially Nesaj Town 2 in Dammam.
The competition shall be organized by Retal Urban Development Company and under the supervision of the Abdullatif Al Fozan Award for Mosque Architecture. The competition aims to attract innovative designs by participants from all over the world to design two Mosques in the center of the Nesaj Town 2 scheme in Dammam, eastern Saudi Arabia. The Nesaj Town scheme is considered one of the most prominent urban development projects for Retal, as its location has been carefully selected. It also aims to provide distinctive designs increasing the aesthetic, sophistication and luxury of the Nesaj Town 2 project, to become an element by which to be proud of in the future, in order the essential facilities in the neighborhood to be completed and Mosque is one of its most important components

To create competitive spaces encouraging the innovation and creativity among architects from around the world
To involve the architectural community by presenting creative ideas compatible with their aspirations and hopes
To find a new vision in the Mosques’ design satisfying the aspirations of future generations

Participation in the competition is available from all over the world for the following categories:
Local and International
Students and faculty can form a design team and participate in the name of the university
Local and International
To produce innovative and bold designs highlighting the Mosque as a cultural and distinctive landmark for the two sites
To feature designs with a special character making them a focal point in the project
The design should make the most of natural light and ventilation
Comprehensiveness of the technical report for the development stages of the architectural concept
Interconnection of Mosque site plan and its facilities with the surrounding to be well studied
The design should be feasible
Taking into consideration the economic aspects such as energy consumption rates and recycled building materials

Competitor (Participant) shall be fully responsible for any content he/she submits to the Competition
The participant has the right to participate in one or two sites design
No reward will be awarded to any candidate whose design has been excluded from competition due to non-compliance with competition terms, programmed documents or otherwise, or for apparent plagiarism or if the work is deemed insufficiently prepared
The winning project does not necessarily have to be executed
The participant has the right to publish his project, mentioning the competition as a reference, after the winners are announced
Abdullatif Al Fozan Award for Mosque Architecture and Retal Company have the full right to publish projects on any platform
The main participant (the designer) shall be the sole owner of the design, and no third party will have right to claim any reward or privilege
